I decided to do another overnighter at Camp Chowenwaw. I went with the intention of using the tree houses again but they were about half booked and I could see there was going to be too much activity for my liking. I was prepared for the possibility of tent camping in case this happened so I went over to Hickory Flats campsite. I took my little $19 Wal-Mart tent because I knew they had tent platforms and the dome tent did require any tent stakes to pitch it. I spent my time hiking, watching the wildlife, listening to the birds and experimenting with pine straw tender for my evening fire. Saw plenty of squirrel, several raccoons, and I heard a couple of deer that evening. I also managed to dodge a big thunderstorm that evening. The storm slipped by just to the north of me.
